KARAHIYA is situated about 35 km south east of Ghazipur city and 93 km east of Varanasi city near Ganga river in Ghazipur district in the state of Uttar pradesh,India.The most popular thing of this village is the temple of MAA KAMAKHYA which was established by king of sikarwar rajputs maharaj Dhamdev Singh. Karahiya is known as VILLAGE OF BRAVEHEARTS in this region,People of this village are famous especially for their great bravery, courage and unity.

This village was established by sikarwar rajputs and still predominantly populated by them.The population however comprises all the sections of the society,and the people of this village live in peaceful atmosphere.Currently the population of the village is 12000.In northern side of this vilage there is holy river ganga and railway station on the southern side.On the east there is village gahmar (its largest village of asia) and a market named bhadaura in western side.

 Maa kamakhya devi is kuldevi of sikarwar vansh .In navratras a large number of people come here to worship and get blessings of the goddess. In the compound of Temple there are many shops of ambrosia(Prasad) and general merchandise, One big sacred pond,One Forest Park/Garden, many rest halls & rooms/Office,few shop for refreshment.

In village karahiya there is a large pond named Sagara in east of village.it's size is 52 BIGHA. It is believed as the largest pond in district ghazipur. On the south of village there is a large orchard of mango trees. It looks like a huge circle filled with trees having radius of 1 km.It too is believed as largest garden in that region.


VILLAGE OF BRAVEHEARTS:

In this region,People of this village are famous especially for their great bravery, courage and unity. You can find one or two soldiers in each family of this village. There is one I.A.S. officer(kailash nath shrivastav) and 30 P.C.S. officers. Karahiya is also famous for its talent in sahitya. In this village there was a highly popular poet named Gobar Ganesh(1941-2011),who was famous as 'hasya vyangya kavi' in all over the india for his hasya(comedy) poetries.

KARAHIYA has its own value in the community of the all 84 villages of SIKARWAR VANSH OF RAJPUTS.Only village karahiya has the honour to present the turban(a symbol of honour) to host in any event of the community of these 84 villages,because this ritual was first established by highly respected person of this region GOVARDHAN SINGH of our village.

In this village there is a library named Jai Ram Bhawan pustakalaya (since 2002) founded by Santraj Singh who is a former defence scientist .This library is owned and managed by children of village . J KRISHNAMURTI STUDY CENTRE is also run by Santraj Singh from november to february every year.There are many books of philosophy available here. In karahiya there are 5 schools in which 3 primary schools,1 middle school and one girls high school named"RAJPUT BALIKA VIDYALAY KARAHIYA GHAZIPUR" managed by Mr. SANJAY SINGH.There is one Intermediate college named "SWAMI VIVEKANAND INTERMEDIATE COLLEGE KARAHIYA GHAZIPUR" founded by MR. DHRUVA SINGH and managed by MR. DEV KUMAR SINGH .There is a computer Institute named MAA KAMAKHYA COMPUTER INSTITUTE KARAHIYA founded and managed by Santosh Upadhyay. It wast the first computer college in this region.

Karahiya is a well educated village as there are many PCS rank officers,engineers and doctors from this village. In war of Independence there are 8 people from our village who actively participated in this war. After independence of India when education was in its primary form, at that time principles of colleges in surrounding region were from karahiya, like Raghunath Singh of Gahmar Inter college, Banshraj Singh of Adarsh Inter College Dildarnagar and Ramashankar Singh of Nauli Inter college.

This village is electrified and well connected by both rail and road.There is availability of network of most of the telecommunication companies .In karahiya there is availability of tap water provided by JAL NIGAM BOARD OF INDIA.
